While some people may have the intention to participate in volunteering, finding the time to do so poses a problem. It can be even difficult for one to find time for themselves with the on-slot of long work hours, household responsibilities, college life, or even children. While this technological era has made much of people’s lives easier and faster, some people aren’t fond of the other applications of technology. People can still volunteer even with a busy schedule and continue making a difference. Aside from constructing better time management, one can also try some of these innovative ways to give back on the go.

Goody Bags

If a person has time to meal prep, then this activity is one that’s very doable even for those among the busiest of people. A goody bag is essentially a gift bag comprised of different basic necessities. They are also called care packages and are provided for those who experience homelessness. Things to put into a care package include snacks, warm socks, water bottles, and toiletries. These items are generally inexpensive and used pretty regularly. It should only take an hour out of the week to sit down and make a few goody bags. These goody bags can be handed out while a person is running their normal errands.

Schedule Volunteer Shifts

Organizations are usually always accepting of help. In fact, some are actually undermanned on volunteers and need the support. It’s best to work with organizations that take their volunteers’ time into consideration. Organizations that allow volunteers to schedule their own shifts receive better prospects of availability more tailored to their needs as an organization. Volunteers can avoid scheduling conflicts and save time by creating shifts. Therefore, volunteers won’t be overworked and will also be able to make a sizable contribution.

Volunteer Counselor

A person can still volunteer with mental health services to make a difference at home. There are thousands of people who have volunteered with suicide prevention hotlines and text lines to provide emotional support to those dealing with depression. Volunteers could just mean being available to listen to someone.

Send Cards to Ill Children

Thousands of children around the world battle with terminal illnesses like cancer. The battle can be long and hard. However, many times a thoughtfully written card helps puts a smile on a kid’s face. Hugs and Hope provides volunteers with brief biographies of sick children as well as the postal addresses to mail the cards too.
